Anbauanleitung Zweiradnotfalbox (ZNB)

Mounting Instructions Motorcycle Emergency Box (ZNB)   The following will explain the:                                         mounting of the licence plate to the (ZNB), and this to the motorcycle; and also if desired, the electrical installation for the licenceplateight.

Attaching the Licence Plate to the (ZNB)Mounting the Motor-cycle Emergency Box (ZNB) to the motorcycleMounting the licence plate light

Place the ZNB with the back on a level and flat surface, so that the closure mechanism is on your right side, and opens from right to left. Place the licence plate centered on the lid of the ZNB. Measure and mark from the 4 corners diagonally towards the middle approx.  1,5 cm., the 4 mounting points.

Now remove the licence plate from the ZNB and place it on a drillable surface. Drill 4 holes that you have marked with the 4 mm drillbits com-pletely through the licence plate. Smooth and remove any rough surfaces from the back of the licence plate. Place the licence plate on the lid of the ZNB.

Mark the 4 holes that you have drilled through the licence plate on the lid of the ZNB. Remember to check if the closure mechanism is on the right side! If you place a piece of wood under the holes that you are about to drill, you shouldn't have any rough edges afterwards. After you have made sure that everything is correct, drill 4 - 4mm holes through the lid of the ZNB.

Now place the licence plate with the 4 holes on the lid of the ZNB; the holes in the lid of the ZNB should match up! Remembering that the closure mechanism is on the right side, you should now attach the licence plate to the lid of the ZNB with the special screws included in the box. Attention should be placed on the fact that the screw sleeves with the washers be used from the inside of the box to the outside towards the licence plate.

You do not need any washers between the licence plate and the lid of the box. Screw the special screws through the licence plate into the screw sleeves. They should be tight, but not overly tight, because then the threads are stripped!

Check the seating and tightness of the screws every 4 weeks to prevent loss and accidents!

Take the ZNB and hold this with the closure mechanism on the right side, on the area where you normally find the licence plate.  Mind the licence plate light and a free opening area of 180 degrees for the lid of the ZNB. If need be, move the ZNB a little lower to ensure an adequate opening area. Before making any permanent marks, check to see if the licence plate is adequately lit.

If now everything matches up, we can proceed with the mounting of the ZNB. If the light for the licence plate does not meet the requirements, you must first go to the part Licence plate lighting and then continue with the next area.

After you have held the ZNB on the motorcycle in the proper area, mark on the enclosed T-piece, which is to be used for attachment to the motorcycle and which has 3 drill or attachment areas on the outside of the ZNB. It is important that 2 areas are in a horizontal and 1 in a vertical position. The holes should be made as far as possible to the right and left and to the bottom. Doing so will ensure an optimal mounting of the ZNB to the motorcycle, and should only be done on the enclosed T-piece.

Place the ZNB with the top on a level surface, so that the bottom of the ZNB with the T-piece looks straight up. To make sure that you don't damage the inside of the lid of the ZNB, place a piece of wood under the area where you plan to drill the holes. The 3 holes should only be made from outside to the inside. Now, attach the ZNB to the new licence holder using 3 - 6mm hexagonal bolts with self-fastening nuts, and using a washer between the head of the screw and the ZNB.

It is imperative that the ZNB be mounted with adequate screws to the motorcycle.

Check the seating and tightness of these mounts every 4 weeks to prevent loss and accidents!

The following pertains to German Law: accord. to para. 60 sect. 4 of motor vehicle operations, must the licence be lit that vehicles of type a sect. V be seen from 20m, and vehicles of type b, c and d be seen from 25m. By lower rated vehicles, is this law not mandatory. The licence plate light has to be mounted so that no clear and/or bright light is visable to the rear.

Hold the ZNB onto the area where it is to be mounted and check in darkness if these requirements are met. If this is the case, we can now proceed to Mounting the ZNB to the Motorcycle. If the licence is not totally lit, use the enclosed licence plate lighting adapter. If on your motorcycle the licence plate light is integrated in the rear light, you need to get an external motorcycle rear-lighting adapter (for example, from the HELLA Co.).

Loosen the electrical attachments and unscrew the external licence plate lighting. Place the rear of the unscrewed licence plate light on the universal rubber adapter and trace the outlines of the light onto this. Using a box cutter (Careful: personal injury), carefully cut this out. Open the cover of the external licence plate light, and using the same type of screws, only in this case 30mm longer, push these into the cut-out licence plate adapter. Close the case, and mount the licence plate light in the original position. If you need to make a new attachment, then attach this under the unscrewed licence plate light.

Connect the new adjusted licence plate light with the extension wiring and connections. Your dealer should be glad to help you out if problems arise with the new mounting.

If the licence plate lighting is changed, you must have it certified by the TÜV! (German legal requirements).
